Richard Couzens (pictured), one of Barclays' co-heads of global product origination across the equities and funds structured (EFS) business launched in September 2014, has left the bank.
Couzens who shared responsibilities with Brad Hurrell, formerly head of structuring, Emea, at a product development level, left Barclays last week, according to the UK Financial Conduct Authority's register.
Couzens was global head of product origination for investor solutions until the summer of 2014 when Barclays' expanded the global product origination team to cover all issuance capabilities, multi-asset listed solutions and the bank's repack business. The product origination team also manages the professional practice agenda including regulation, governance and controls across the EFS business, and reports to Corinne Grain, head of EFS sales, Emea and head of EFS Pillar I sales, global, at Barclays.
As global head of product origination for Investor Solutions at Barclays, Couzens was based in New York until he was relocated back to London in 2011 when former Barclays' Global Investors Solutions bankers Philippe El-Asmar and Kevin Burke swapped roles.
Couzens joined Barclays Capital in 2004 as product origination chief, reporting to El-Asmar, and then to Burke, covering multi-asset structured products, derivatives and funds; sales and structuring; platform and product development; listed solutions (exchange traded products); and professional practice (global regulation, governance & controls).
Before joining Barclays Capital, Couzens worked in the equities division at Bear Stearns.
Couzen's responsibilities will be taken over by Ian Merrill, managing director, head of exchange-traded notes (ETNs) and global platforms, EFS Solutions, in New York.
