James Thomson is an investment manager for Rathbone Unit Trust Management, joining Rathbones in October 2000, having graduated from Cornell University in New York with a Bachelor of Arts .degree. James holds the Investment Management Certificate and the Securities Institute Diploma. He is a Fellow of the Securities Institute and was appointed as a Board Director of Rathbone Unit Trust Management Limited in November 2006. James has been involved in the management of the Rathbone Global Opportunities Fund since its inception in 2001. Between November 2003 and June 2005, he assumed responsibility for the day-to-day management of portfolio, under the auspices of co-manager Julian Chillingworth, and in July 2005, James was named sole manager. His investment style relies heavily on stockpicking. He generates ideas using an amalgam of fundamental research; meetings with company management teams; and discussions with analysts and brokers.
