Trustnet verdict
Overall, performing better than the peer group composite. Over a long track record, the manager has outperformed the peer group more often than not. Good stock picking has had a material positive impact on results, which have not been particularly exposed to falling markets.
Manager profile
Daniel was born in 1973 and began his investment career in 1998 with Abbey Life Investment Services in Bournemouth, where he worked in the fixed interest team as a money market and foreign exchange dealer. This included a stint in London with Hill Samuel Asset Management after the merger of Abbey Life and Hill Samuel. Daniel returned to Bournemouth in 2001 to join Christows Stockbrokers, working with Nick Greenwood on his funds of investment trusts. Following a change in ownership at Christows and the departure of key individuals, Daniel left to be a founding member of iimia in 2002. His role progressed from assistant fund manager of the iimia Accelerated Fund and iimia Investment Trust, to lead manager of the iimia Income Fund and finally Head of Investment Services. In 2008 Daniel was awarded the prestigious Investment Week Fund Manager of the Year for his stewardship of the iimia Income Fund. Daniel joined Hawksmoor in June 2009 as Fund Manager and remains co-manager of the Vanbrugh, Distribution and Global Opportunities Funds. He is also CIO – Fund Management and co-Head of the Fund Management Team. Daniel’s interests outside work include running, cycling, golf and football.

Performance vs peer group composite: Daniel Lockyer
How a manager matches up against their peers gives you some idea of how talented they are. Very few managers perform equally well in rising and falling markets, so knowing which type of market a manager is capable of performing well within is also important.
