Masafumi began his career at The Toyo Trust & Banking (renamed Mitsubishi UFJ Trust & Banking), then moved on to global ex-Japan equities research at Baillie Gifford in Edinburgh, where he was seconded from Toyo Trust. Upon returning to Tokyo, his role expanded to managing global equities including Japan and asset allocation. In 2001, he joined Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (renamed BlackRock), where he gained extensive experience managing Japan equity funds for a wide range of institutional clients. He also assumed the role of head of research within the team, while still maintaining full sector coverage responsibilities. In October 2009 he joined ING Mutual Funds where he delivered consistent and superior performance for his clients. Education BA in Business and Commerce from Keio University. He is a CMA charter holder.
