FE Trustnet verdict
Overall, performing better than the peer group composite. Over a long track record, the manager has, period by period, consistently managed to outperform the peer group. There is not sufficient data to say whether good stockpicking has had any real effect on results, which have tended to be relatively better in a falling market.
Manager profile
Angel Ortiz who is currently the Portfolio Manaager of the Latin America Fund had earlier been a Gas engineer in Petroleas de Venezuela during 1998-99, an Oilfield engineer in Schlumberger, Venezuela from 2000-03. He then assumed the role of Pan-European Research Analyst, covering house builders, chemicals and autos during the years 2005-07. He holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuala and an MBA from Kelley School of Business in Indiana University.

Performance vs peer group composite: Angel Ortiz
How a manager matches up against their peers gives you some idea of how talented they are. Very few managers perform equally well in rising and falling markets, so knowing which type of market a manager is capable of performing well within is also important.
