Appointment of a new Director

The Henderson Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc ('the Company') announces that Mr Jamie Cayzer-Colvin will be appointed a non-executive director with effect from 13 May 2011. 

Jamie Cayzer-Colvin is an executive director of Caledonia Investments plc.  He joined the Caledonia group in 1995, initially working at its Amber specialty chemicals subsidiary before becoming an investment executive at Caledonia in 1999.  He was appointed an associate director in 2002 and a director in 2005.  He is a non-executive director of Close Brothers Group plc.  He is also a director of Polar Capital Holdings plc and of a number of unquoted companies.

There is no further information to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in respect of Mr Cayzer-Colvin.
